Why are higher capacities needed?

Cooling accounts for around 10% of global energy demand. By 2050, that demand will triple. Whether it is keeping homes liveable, factories productive or data online, cooling is critical infrastructure.

The shift to refrigerant-free cooling has begun, and adoption in low capacity applications is accelerating, but marks just the start. To truly enable the shift, refrigerant-free cooling must scale into high-capacity applications consuming the most energy: data centres, industrial process cooling, building HVAC, and more.

Can I buy STELLAR?

STELLAR is not yet commercially available, but is available for joint development projects.

Are permanant magnet systems being replaced?

No. Permanent magnets are well-suited to lower-capacity applications and will continue to power our ECLIPSE system platform. To reach the field strengths required for high-capacity industrial and commercial cooling, permanent magnets hit a practical limit.

STELLAR addresses this with superconducting magnets, which deliver the higher fields needed without the weight and footprint trade-offs.
